A Home Away
From Home
Since 2018, Chabad of San Miguel de Allende has been a warm, welcoming presence for every Jew in one of Mexico's most beloved cities — whether you live here, are passing through, or are just finding your way back.
About Chabad
A Global Movement
Built on Connection
Chabad-Lubavitch is one of the world's most active Jewish organizations, operating in over 100 countries with more than 5,000 institutions worldwide. From Buenos Aires to Beijing, from the mountains of Nepal to the streets of Paris, Chabad emissaries — known as Shluchim — establish Jewish centers, schools, synagogues, and community programs wherever Jews are found.
What makes Chabad distinctive is its approach: unconditional outreach. No membership required. No test of observance. No expectation beyond showing up. Chabad centers around the world serve as drop-in homes for Jewish travelers, local communities, college students, and anyone seeking a connection to their heritage.
Chabad runs some of the world's largest Jewish holiday events — Passover Seders on every continent, Chanukah menorahs in public squares from Times Square to the Eiffel Tower, High Holiday services in remote corners of the globe. The common thread: every Jew matters, and no one gets left behind.
What Chabad Does
Our Mission in SMA
Judaism Lived with
Joy & Warmth
Chabad of San Miguel de Allende exists to serve every Jewish person who walks through our door — or down our street. San Miguel is a city that draws people from everywhere, and so does Chabad. Our community includes long-time residents, retirees, digital nomads, Shabbat tourists, and curious souls who wandered in from the Jardín. All are welcome. All belong.
Meet the Shluchim
Rabbi Daniel
& Raizel Huebner
Directors, Chabad of San Miguel de Allende
Rabbi Daniel and Raizel Huebner arrived in San Miguel de Allende in 2018 as Chabad emissaries — Shluchim sent to build a Jewish home in one of Mexico's most beloved cities. What they found was a vibrant, curious, and deeply welcoming community, and they've never looked back.
Rabbi Daniel grew up in Pittsburgh and Raizel in New Jersey. Together they've built something special in SMA — a place where Friday night Shabbat feels like family dinner, where holidays are celebrated with full hearts, and where no question is too big or too small.
They love meeting people — whether you're a longtime local, a first-time visitor, or someone just passing through for the weekend. Their door is genuinely, always open.
